Lindsey Anderson MA LMFT

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

As a counselor, I greatly desire my clients to know and believe that they matter and have purpose. When working with me, you will find a warm, personable, and grace-filled space, where you have the ability to accomplish your goals and experience healing. I will always hold hope for my clients, and I truly believe that change is possible. As a person of faith myself, I welcome clients from all backgrounds, faiths, and life experiences and love how these aspects of ourselves inform our perspectives and paths toward healing.

My training and experience provide service to a wide range of clients from adolescents (8-18 yrs), to adults of all ages, and couples. I have found working with pre-teens and teenagers to be especially fun and fulfilling! When working with younger clients, I find it important to be flexible and creative in my counseling style, in order to make sessions inviting, fun, and helpful! This means sometimes creating, playing and thinking out of the box.

My favorite tool for working with individual clients is “Brainspotting”. This framework is a versatile offshoot of EMDR that creates the optimal environment to help access the brain’s ability to heal itself through neurological reprocessing and making new connections. As a therapist, I partner with my clients to find the “brainspot” (a place that they look with their eyes) that goes with what they are experiencing/feeling. I have seen it bring healing to physical/somatic symptoms, as well as unwanted/difficult thought patterns and emotions.

When working with couples, families, and relationships in general, my framework is based out of a trauma and attachment-based lens. I believe that it is paramount for each member of the relationship to feel valued, understood, and cared for while in sessions. As a team, we can learn and explore the skills your relationship needs to impact it in a positive and healthy way.

In my years as a therapist, I have learned that things are not always what they appear to be. I say this not to encourage a fearful or skeptical approach, but to encourage a tender and curious approach. There is often more to a person’s story or emotions than just what they present. As a therapist, I see it as a great privilege to create a safe and understanding environment to allow individuals, couples and families to reveal and share what lies underneath. This vulnerability and discovery met with compassion is what leads to healing.

I am so grateful to be a part of the Living Well Counseling team since the Fall of 2021. Alongside counseling, my background includes work in sports medicine as a Certified Athletic Trainer as well as work in campus ministry overseas and at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. I love doing any activity where I get to move my body or be outdoors, especially if it means I get to enjoy time with my husband and daughter.

Lindsey is in the office on Mondays and Tuesdays and currently taking new clients for private pay or the following insurances: Aetna, Alliance, Anthem, Cigna, and WPS.
